Hello,
I wanted to put the original Tim Shaw Pickups back into my 84 prehistoric Les Paul. But the pickups have a additional red wire that I don't know where to solder to.
I measure 7,24 ohm at the main wire and 3,63 at the red wire.
Is that original or did somebody ad the wire for coil splitting or whatever? Where should I solder it to?
Thanks, Andreas

Certainly not original and is almost certainly a coil tap (connection to the wire between the 2 pickup coils) that could be used to switch between single coil and hum-bucker operation. If you are using it in a standard Les Paul wiring setup then the wire should not be connected to anything, just make sure that the end is insulated so that it can't short out to anything and tie the wire up out of the way.
