• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Nothing wrong w/ a classic single channel JCM 800 imho & to me, they can get pretty close to a 50w/ NMV JMP & yes I have read thru the years how great yours does sound! Plus didn`t you buy Kerry`s [aka: J-45] modded `76 LE Explorer that I see in your avatar?! That too was a great run of Gibsons in a decade that wasn`t their best. I do wish Kerry was still active here [I`v been a long-time reader here until I was able to join a few yrs ago]--I really liked his posts etc & he was a fan of EC & Cream and was adamant that Clapton never did play a 335 w/ Cream other than their final/Farewell gig at the RAH in late Nov `68 even though those who saw Cream in LA in late `68 swore he did play a 335 [which turns out to actually be a 355!]

K_L, yes I got that old road warrior 2204 from Michael years ago; I actually like the way it looks, it's just part of its history, so yes imagine how it must sound. :)
As much as I love the old 4-input models, this one isn't going anywhere. :dude:

Yes I still have that '76 LE Explorer from Kerry, it's been my benchmark for old PAF + Mahogany rock tone ever since, I love this guitar. I wish Kerry was still around too, hope he's well.
Agree, a good old 220x is not that far from the earlier 4-input amps, and as good in its own style IMHO; I actually like how the master volume works stock on these amps, useful to get crunchier tones at lower volume and sounds great with a few pedals pushing the front end.

This is a great thread!! I'm brand new, so no idea if my picture of my Pauls/Amps will come through (apologies if they don't).... I also can't seem to upload any hi def pix taken with my iPhone 11, so another set of apologies for the lack of definition in the pic (if it is actually attached). Rookies....:bigal If anyone can offer advice on how to upload high quality pix from an iPhone 11, I'd be glad to receive some advice (of course thru private message so we don't bother everyone else). Rock on!
