• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Are these real Gibson PAF?

I bought a Les Paul ARtisan (77), the guy says the pups were subbed out with vintage PAF Gibsons (but I get the original pups too), they measure in the 8 ohm range and have the sticker. The sticker does appear to be "flaking" vs. decal. But I'm totally new to this, so just wondering if I may have totally scored here. I get the guitar in a couple of days. I know you guys can perform identification miracles haha... I know the pics aren't fantastic, but if you could chime in on what you see, that would be fantastic! Either way I'm stoked for the guitar.

They might be real. It is difficult without hi res photos. But, a couple of things make me wonder. The legs and feet look suspect, but it could just be the fuzzy pictures.

Nope.
Those are not real PAFs.
They’re almost certainly ‘57 classics.
(Which are fine, in not excellent, pickups.)
But they are in no way real PAFs made in Kalamazoo approximately between the years 1957-1962.

Thanks. What gives it away?

Admittedly, the pictures are not as clear/close as one would like but despite this, what “gives it away” is evident. The font and its color on the stickers are incorrect, the color of the stickers, especially the clear edges, is way off, there are no tool markings to be seen on the feet of the pickup and a few other suspect items including the pickup rings which also appear to be modern are what “gives it away”.

AND - The Les Paul Artisan is a killer guitar! Please post more pictures of it! Does it hand the fancy fretboard & headstock inlay? Is it wine red? Lucky you!
