• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi guys, I'm new here so please go easy on me.
This guitar is listed on an Australian classified as:

"1960's Gibson es 330 with Brierley B90's

Bought as a fully restored guitar. Resprayed in Honeysuckel Sunburst. hard case could be original or 70’s. Tyms Guitar - (note: reputable dealer) - gave it a work over and did the Brierley pickups.
The guitar has been routed out to fit humbuckers but now replaced with Mick Brierley B 90 pickups.
This thing has a thin neck, serial is partly removed but I believe it’s s.68889"

$2995 AUD (2,040.06 USD)

Do you believe it is a vintage Gibson? Is it worth attempting to trade a 2017 Gretsch George Harrison for? I will attempt to post pictures here if I can work out how to.

Looks legit to me- a 65-67 to my eyes.

Bridge seems a bit off but that might just be the pic.

all in all, for <3k aud it’s a pretty good player.

It has the 16 fret neck joint. It would be good to see a side view of the peghead, to see if it has the steep or shallow angle. Is the hardware nickel or chrome?

(Badly) refinished? Routed for HBs? Changed pickups? Changed tuners? Changed bridge? Changed knobs? Non-original hardcase?
This is priced way too expensive if you ask me. My guess is it would sell for no more than 1500 USD on ebay...

2000 USD is not bad for a good looker like this one, even with a lot of replacement parts and an ok refinish. I've seen worse bring more. I'd have to see it in person to judge the refinish though. Pics are always flattering ;)

Thanks for the input everyone. It's definitely heavy player grade, just one of the best prices on something like this in Aus.

Looks like a braz board too which makes things more enticing! To be honest, if you don't buy it- I might. I'd probably slap humbuckers back in and refin blonde (i've already got a hollow es).

As a fellow aussie, I can say it's pretty slim pickings for player grade vintage down here.

That being said, for a bit more money, you might be able to find something a lot nicer & cleaner.

It's all yours if you want it my friend, that would become one beautiful guitar. It is slim round here. Let us know if you do mod it, I'd love to see :)
