    Your Best Concert Ever?

In response to the current "Your First Concert ?" thread, I thought it might be fun to ask which concert was your favorite(s). Probably the most fun I ever had at a concert would have been seeing The Brian Setzer Orchestra live. The music was fun, infectious and Brian and the band seemed to be having a blast! There are other bands that I like more, but for sheer fun, nothing ever came close. Which were your favorites and why?

Savoy Brown at Massey Hall, Toronto in the early 70s when they toured their "Street Corner Talkin" album.
    There's many others.

    Tough call...

I've haven't really seen a lot of different bands playing big(ger) venue shows, so I don't know what qualifies as a "concert?"

Most memorable show for sure was Nirvana @ Cabaret Metro in Chicago, barely two and half weeks after Nevermind was released. EVERYBODY in that room knew this was the place to be, at that moment in time. That was a life altering event.

    Others of note.

    The Kinks in '83.
    The Clash ('83?).
    Tom Waits '06.
    Frank Zappa '89.
Rolling Stones '02 at the relatively small 5000 capacity Aragon Ballroom.
The Grateful Dead '89 at Stanford University.

    (More club shows)
    My Bloody Valentine/Dinosaur Jr. '92.
Pretty much every time I saw The Jesus Lizard...

and way too many more to mention.

Touch & Go Records 25th anniversary.

    and many more.

    Re: Your Best Concert Ever?

Best concerts ever were the two times I saw the Gilmour-led Pink Floyd in Philadelphia in 1987. I had never seen any group get the most out of an outdoor stadium before -- surround sound, rear projection films, Spitfires and inflatable pigs flying from the rafters towards the stage on guide wires -- it was an incredible visual and audio experience.

I saw the Brian Setzer Orchestra at Christmastime last year in Dallas, and it was indeed an extremely fun show, with a band that swings hard. I also saw Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band at the outdoor sand and lake outdoor arena in 2006 at Mandalay Bay in Vegas. Lots of people waded into the man-made lake to get close to the stage, and there was a guy with a broken or injured leg who waved his crutch in the air when everyone else were waving cigarette lighters and flashlights. At one point, Ringo looked over the spectacle and said something like, "This has to be the strangest gig we've ever played!"

To me,they are all the best.

It's a collective experience. The band is playing somewhere, people score tickets and go to a show. That's enough for me,no kidding. Like minded people who took the time and money to go see and hear live music.

The venue doesn't matter, the people who are there matter.

One that sticks in my mind, maybe because I really didn’t have high expectations at the time was The Eagles, Poco, and Seals & Croft at Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City NJ July 1975. All 3 were excellent!

Has vBulletin announced any vulnerabilities, or do these attacks only affect users?

There is a "zero day" vulnerability with VB reported last month, although researchers claim the vulnerability is at least three years old. Pretty nasty bug that can take over servers that host. My guess is for a future DDoS attack.

There is a patch for the software, but that isn't going to stop single post users and their links.

Yes in the Omni in Atlanta, Ga in 1979. It was in the round with no amps on the stage, just a circle of speakers above roughly the same size as the stage. The microphone hung from above. And the stage slowly revolved. It was the Tormato tour. Heart of the Sunrise and Yours Is No Discrace just destroyed the place.

    July 1988.
The Jeff Healey Band absolutely ripped it up at a grungy, sweaty little dive
called The Town Pump in Vancouver's Gastown.
We were packed in there like the strangest tin of beer-soaked sardines.
The stage was just high enough that you weren't quite at eye-level with the band.
Everyone in that place just levitated with the groove & energy coming off Jeff and his
    two band-mates.
Makes my heart beat faster just remembering the show!

Some of the best concerts I've ever seen weren't rock n roll...Got to see Stan Getz in a tiny little venue on Pico in Santa Monica in about '88. A year earlier I saw McCoy Tyner playing in a small club in Chicago. Two fabulous performances in small, intimate settings.

As for rock n roll. The best concert I ever saw--and this came right after having seen Cream and Hendrix--was the original Fleetwood Mac. Absolutely the most exciting, dynamic and joy-filled performance I ever saw! Next was the same band but with Christine Perfect replacing Green...they did mostly stuff off Kiln House...I believe it was shortly before the record came out, but I'm not certain. Also an incredible performance; Danny Kirwin really stepped up! But the concert with both Green and Kirwin (and Jeremy) was just astoundingly good. I've never heard better improvisational work in rock music; they listened to and played off eachother sooooo well!

Due to a variety of family issues, we traveled from California to the east coast pretty often from 2001 to 2003. I was able to catch (on different nights), McCoy Tyner, bassist Ron Carter, guitarist Mike Stern and of course, Les Paul at the Iridium Club. And Bobby Short at the Cafe Carlyle. Those were all brilliant shows, in venues that catered their customers in a very different fashion than seeing mammoth rock concerts at the Spectrum and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
