• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Importing a guitar into the US with a Rosewood fretboard?

I bought a Gibson Custom Shop guitar from a shop in the UK. They said it's going to take weeks to get CITES permits and whatnot. Is this true or could they just ship it to me normally? I live in the midwest USA.

I think it is still true for the time being but will change, assuming you didn't buy a Brazilian.

My understanding is that CITES regulations require permits for both export (in this case from the UK authorities) and import (from the US authorities) until the new regulations come into effect in November making an exception for finished musical instruments with non-Brazilian rosewood. My understanding from past threads here is that UK/EU authorities are very strict with CITES issues and the biggest hurdle will probably be the export permit from the UK.

It's the new Joe Perry Les Paul Gold Rush

Then it would have already had a CITIES certificate when it was shipped to the UK.
They shouldn't have to get another one. That one is still good. :wah
