So I've pulled the trigger on a very special casino! I hear that these can be inconsistent, but this one plays beautifully. Rings true at every fret and absolutely kills that lennon thing.

I've been trying to pull together some history- but it's certainly been around the bend!

67-73 : Mystery Owner: (recently came into Guitar Colonel (Melb, Aus) with a scrapbook)- says he purchased it on Denmark St, Brand new at Selmer Music in 1967. Whilst attempting to clean it, he accidentally ruined the original sunburst, and had it professionally refinished in natural top.
73-?: Mystery Original Owner then allegedly sold it to Graeham Goble of Mississipi (which became Little River Band) who then sold it later in the 70s
7?-2014: some time in the 70s, it was purchased by a local, Melbourne-based musician who played it until his death, at which point the family which inherited the guitar. brought it in for consignment to Anthony of Guitar Colonel)
2019: me :)

Magnificant guitar. I'm thinking that's a Gibson case as the '64 Casino I had had navy colored lining.

Very nice! :salude

Glad you got a good one. I was trying to track down a decent ES-330 back before eBay, and many needed neck resets. I found a couple that were worth buying over the years, including a mid 60's Casino, but they all got away from me. Something I've always regretted.

Sweeeettt! Love those, never played one. Wonderful that you have some history on it and know the Graeham Goble connection. Congratulations and enjoy it!

Yeah that's an interesting one! Unless Selmers switched the cases, this is supposedly the original case. I've found a couple of other casino's/riviera's from this period with yellow lining though it seems blue was definitely more common.

It was not unusual for American guitars to be sold in Europe with different cases, usually bought locally. So that may very well be the "original" case.
That case isn't an Epiphone or a Gibson case either. Looks European to me. :hmm

Thanks for the insight! That's really odd to me- how were the guitars shipped across if not in their cases?

Badass!

I had the "revolution" LE reissue MIJ/MIA/Yoko thing for a while and could not believe how closely it was built to a vintage Casino in terms of the construction. Casino's/330's are such neat guitars. If I'm lucky I might get another old one in the stable sometime down the road.

I have wondered that myself. It seems Fender did the same thing. Maybe just boxed and crated very well. Less weight [lower shipping cost] might have been the reason. :hmm
