Yeah man. Mine plays like butter and sounds terrific. The P90 are real nice...albeit not quite like 50s P90. Here's a taste. Sloppy playing.
Good tone!!!

One of the better demos I’ve heard in quite some time. Not sloppy playing and a great sound. Gibson’s sound most enjoyable to me with less preamp gain, just like your recording. I always know that it’s the person that we hear and not the equipment. Having said that, I’d love to know what amp you were playing thru. ( I’m an amp junkie )

Yes, I found also that with a good P-90 guitar I can get a great tone with less gain. With humbucker guitars I tend to use higher gain settings.
The advantage of P-90 is that the have only one coil and less phase problems. = the tone is better defined.

Fender HW Custom '57 Tweed Deluxe. It's a really nice new 5E3 amp from Fender. Thanks for the kind words!:dude:

Just one day before Christmas I have received my Special from Thomann! And I was lucky that I got one since it's sold out all over Germany.

Now I like to share my first impressions with you.

First I checked the build quality of the guitar:

The nut was not proper flat at one side of the neck, sticking out ca. 1mm (so I had to file it down)

The electronics are handwired and the person who did it was a bit under time pressure, the solder joints are not very careful done but the function was there.
No 50ts wiring.... But the volume controls and tone are working extremely well, so I am wondering if I shall try if 50th wiring sounds even better?

The toggle switch appears to be not the best one, it was blocking serveral times. They used a relative cheap wire from the switch to the controls, maybe I will change that later...

The weight of my guitar is 3,6KG so it's not a very light one, but therefore tons os sustain and rich tone on board! Looks like a one piece body!?

The set up was pretty good, only a bit adjustment of the truss rod and that's it. (quite normal)

After I have played the guitar now for 3 days (original strings) I must say I am blown away!!! I really like the sound of the pick up's and the vibe of that special:
Gibson build great guitars again and yes I would buy this guitar again and these little flaws don't bother me at all. (You find such little flaws also on high end guitars)
If you see the price of this guitar and compare to the custom shop or other brands, it's rediculous cheap for the sound and build quality:salude
One thing more, I never had such dirty fingers after playing a new guitar:hee

I was told Gibson USA puts some kind of cleaner/rosin on the fretboard. I had dirty fingers the first few weeks of playing it. It went away. I got mine from Sweetwater; i must say I have been fairly impressed with them. Good customer service, my rep. emails me to see if Im still happy with my gear, and of course "do I need anything"...lol

Was yours plek'd? Anyway. Congrats mate!! But of course we need pics!!!

I've had one of those for about 10 years and just love it. Great amps right out of the box.

This is "supposed" to be a little different as this came out in 2018/19. Has an MM tranny. Uses a 12ay7. Has an Eminince AlNiCo speaker??? But anyway...I got a demo model. So it was cheaper. One of my knobs is a little sticky. I'd love to change preamp tubes...but all RCA are through the roof.

Any. Yes I love the tone and because it's a demo, my tweed is a little relic'd...ie. stained. But that's cool. Tweeds look better after awhile. :salude

Mine is dead stock. I actually went in the store (Norman's Rare Guitars) about 10 years ago to buy a '62 Princeton they had, but didn't care for it once I cranked it up. Sounded like the 10" speaker just didn't cut it. The Deluxe was next to it and I was amazed when I tried it. At the time I was actually looking for (ideally) a 15w (+/-) Marshall (I found out they don't make any such thing!), something with some snarl to it, and the Deluxe just nailed it. I wish it had a bit more high end, and I bet the speaker you have in yours would be ideal.

As allways I coudn't hold myself back to try out 50s wiring for the neck pick up, for this I have used a switch that I can compare the original wiring against the 50s on the fly.
After trying out serveral Amps with different gain settings I decided to use 50s on the neck and stay with modern wiring on the bridge. 50s wiring keeps the neck pick up a bit brighter, but also the modern wiring sounds very good on this guitar! With other guitars I would might have used a push/pull pot to have both options but here I don't like to swap out the original pot's since the are really working fine!

After having chased tone with modifications...I do prefer 50s wiring etc. I am leaving mine stock. It doesn't need anything...and anyway, no matter what guitar or amp I play, I always sound like me.
