Hello everyone. Don't know if this is the right place to post this but since the serial number of the guitar in question is ink stamped, I figured I should post here. Feel free to move this post to the correct pub if not.

I have found a les paul Junior locally and the owner does not have much info about it. However, he was kind enough to send me a few photos so I decided to share them with you in order to determine whether this guitar is genuine and from which period.

The owner also informed me that the guitar has CTS pots and that the tone cap is a black barrel with yellow & orange stripes (could request a photo if needed).

My main concern is that the first digit of the serial number looks like the letter "G". Is this a historic reissue?

Any ideas?

The serial number looks a bit strange. The guitar looks like it may have been refinished with a re-stamped serial number. I would ask for picture if the control cavity as well as the pickup route and pickup.

Ask him if the frets are worn or has it had a headstock repair.
I'm a little concerned with blurry pics and also he strangely seems not to know the tone caps are called Bumble Bees.

Looks like a rebranded japanese Orville to me.
They used metal button klusons on their lp jr's casino's, riviera's etc.
And they had a "Letter first" serial number system at some point.

The guitar is sold at a good price if it was a historic. Of course the owner doesn't claim it is... or isn't. He simply doesn't know. Too many red flags on this. I'll just pass. Thank you all for your input.

The “Les Paul” Junior headstock labeling is not consistent with vintage or Reissue/historic. It does match the size and position as that used on USA models.
