• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How heavy is your Les Paul

The NECK. If you look at the shadows you can tell it is REALLY deep. And FAT.

Out of curiosity, I just weighed mine; 1976 Tobacco Custom: 10.6 pounds.

It seems that plenty of people have LP-style guitars here, so a question just out of curiosity - what's the weight of yours? Don't forget to specify make, model and year.

Here are mine:

Gibson Standard 2000 - 4.65kg / 10.25lbs

Orville LPS-80F 1995 - 3.99kg / 8.8 lbs

One thing that struck me about LPs is that my LP Jr weighs more than my LP Standard.

2014 Standard 8lb 2 oz Klusons
2016 LP Jr 8lb 8oz

then I heard an interview with Leslie West where he made a statement that explained everything.

"A LP Jr is a tree trunk with a microphone nailed to it"

I had an early 2000's epiphone standard plus top that went just over 10 lbs.

The most recent object of my affection is a 1989 Orville by Gibson Les Paul Custom in Wine Red weighing in at a dead even 8lbs! It is solid mahogany with the maple cap (and a mahogany neck) with no weight relief whatsoever! It has the long neck tenon, a 60's slim neck, and a rosewood board. It is very well balanced in both weight and tone, with amazing resonance. It has Bill Lawrence circuit board pickups that really complement it well, producing a great woody tone!

Slightly under 4 kilos.
But the best sounding I have had were around 4,3 kilos.

Exept one R7 that sounded like a burst atleast to my ears that one was under 4 also but not much.
