• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I see what you did there Tom!!
:rofl

Apparently a salesman's sample.

I have asked a few people if they could reproduce those covers but no one seems to be able to do it [or can't be bothered to look into it]. :dang

Beautiful. How the heck does that pickguard tip not fall off and get lost?

Great pics but weren't you tempted to get a bit of rubber car mat and superglue and sort the bottom edge out? Hahaha

Korina V’s had none

I am about 99.9% confident that these 1950s Flying Vs did have countersunk string ferrules embedded in the back of the guitar.

Otherwise the ball-ends of the strings would chew through the wood and create all kinds of problems.

Yes, they are deep in the hole, sorry. I should have been more clear

One of my best friends had one of these early V’s in 1974. He bought it in So. Texas and then brought it out here and sold it for a ‘59 Burst..

They aren't 'ferrules' per se... All of the original '58s I have seen (totaling 3) had small washers pressed into the bottom of those 2 step holes on the back.

Way too cool! I'm no doubt totally wrong, but in my mind I hear the midset back then of: "this is our idea of a guitar for the future we're building today." A futuristic guitar built with the technology of the day.

There's something about it that I'm hard pressed in finding the right word to describe it.

It's beautiful, it's intriguing but there's something......darnit! I can't find the word. I know what I'm thinking. Just can't totally formulate the thought.
