• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've seen the picture of Dan playing the Bloomfield Burst before but did not know Iggy was on the drums. Cool.

Me, circa 1968...pre electric. (notice the cool boots!). I got my first electric not long after this....which was a LP black beauty copy. Couple of years later I got my first "real" guitar which was a well used '66 Non Reverse Firebird which I gigged with for years. Got it from Andy Shernoff of The Dictators who worked in a music store in my area. Cool fun times. :peace2

April 1971, Fort Hunt High School. Geoff Richardson playing his refinished 1957 Les Paul w/ the D.C. area rock band Crank. Geoff plugged straight in to his 100 watt Marshall Super Lead. They played "British Invasion" covers with a searing lead guitar sound, and were one of the best bands around. Crank was the opening act at a concert headlined by The Ides of March ("I'm Your Vehicle") w/ Jim Peterik, vocals, guitar.

Punky Meadows w/ his band The Cherry People, ca. 1970; playing on the Washington Mall (Sylvan Theater?). Punky Meadows went on the form the D.C. area glam-rock band Angel in 1975. Angel toured extensively in the mid-late 1970s and recorded 6-7 albums IIRC.

Punky Meadows w/ The Cherry People playing in a Georgetown club in 1969.

Punky Meadows, ca. 1976. Angel has signed a record deal with Casablanca and is touring behind some of the big rock bands in the 1970s. Story goes Angel was "discovered" by Gene Simmons in 1975 when the Kiss frontman stopped in to see Angel at Bogies, a D.C. nightclub. I first saw Angel play at Bogies in March, 1975. They were on fire and just crushed that little nightclub!

Punky Meadows and Angel performing as a show in the mid-1970s. Not sure where.

Punky Meadows and Frank Dimino around 2017; the two oringal members recently reformed Angel and play venues throughout the U.S. and most recently England. Punky also put out a new album in 2018 which he used "Fallin Angel" as the bands name.

Punky Meadows w/ Angel (reformed) playing a show recently. Not sure where.

Angel at a recent show....nice clean stage!
