More likely that the '06s nitro has had that much more time to cure and off-gas any other chemicals.
I've read that the nitro used is never really done curing, it just gets to a relatively stable point.
Personally, my Gibsons are fine on foam stands, never had a problem. I since build a multi-rack that
uses foam pipe insulation down below and felt padding for the neck. I haven't had any issues with the Gibsons
or the bass I build using the Stew Mac spray-can nitro finish.
