• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Finally I bought!! Les Paul Studio Alpine white 1983 with Tim Shaw PU

Hello everybody!!!! After a long and tormented period in which I am not decided to buy or not a Les Paul Custom:
https://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?209249-Les-Paul-Custom-1976-with-issues
then decided to buy a Les Paul Standard disappeared at the very last moment:
https://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/...-Alpin-White-with-quot-supposed-quot-Tim-Shaw
the third attempt was finally successful!!!!
Here you have: Les paul Studio Alpine White (yellowed) 1983 with Tim Shaw Pickups!!!

The finish is vertically cracked:

This is the headstock:

Pots from back. There are letters Y (yellow) R (red) O (orange) W (white) for correct wiring. The pots are correctly marked 83.

Pickups Tim Shaw:

Neck 372883 (august 1983)

Bridge 373883 (august 1983)

Chrome hardware. I substitute the cover of Rhythm/Treble switch with new one (instead of worst chrome mounted when I bought):

Fretboard is Ebony (?):

and Last but not Least, a document enclosed, "Inspection Sheet", dated june 7th, 2012, with summary of characteristics. Without doubt was written in USA (in Italy we do not use these particular handwrite fonts) maybe by a re-seller (it is not marked Gibson) in which fretboard is marked as "Rosewood":

The sound is very, very, very beautiful! Frets are ok, some wear on 4th and 6th frets (maybe the previous owner played everything in A pentatonic...).
Happy ending!!!
So, please, if you will, let me know your impressions about my new baby.
Thank you for your attention!
Happy Claudio

Looks really nice. I love dot markers and the checking and ageing of the tuners is a bonus

Pleased to see you replaced the toggle switch tip

The document is probably USA as here in the UK we don't usually write 'Serial #' but 'Serial No'.

Play it in good health

Very nice guitar crazy cool cking!
I have a 84 studio made about 60 days after yours.
Looks like vintage tuners were added to your guitar note the extra holes.
Heres the tuners on mine IMG_3545.jpg

Yes, before was mounted another type of keys, I don't know which one, unfortunately left these little holes...these one mounted anyway are the original.

Thanks for your precisation.
Really I did not paid attention when I bought, I only checked the correct age of pots, I didn't know the various ways of wiring.... I dismounted rear cover and apparently the soldering seems to be original....
I don't know what is better to do now...
But I think I will leave as found, this LP has a terrific sound!!!
Many thanks for your suggestions!!!
