• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Cover of Eric's guitar parts in 'Steppin' Out'. Tutorials to follow shortly.

I did this one with a backing track which means trying to remember, as best as one can, not only the notes, but the subtleties of Eric's (brilliant) timing. In the heat of the moment I forgot a couple of the little nuances in his playing, but I'll try and pick anything like that up in the tutorials.

Thoughts on the Intro (Lesson One)

He certainly picks that 'F' (D string, 3rd fret) on the Cream live version and plays it, possibly with a pull-off, in the outro to the Beano recording, but listening again and again and again, I am not sure he even plays that note at all in the Beano intro. Hmm.

Hey Mark. Didn't know you were on the LPF but it makes sense so not surprised!

As a lot of players here, I suspect, we've been dissecting EC's playing for a long time. For me, Mark's videos are a great refresher on stuff I learned 30-40 years ago plus for learning songs or licks I just brushed on or never attempted to go through. Although I still like to do the dirty work (learning stuff off records - the ultimate ear training) Mark cuts to the chase and all you have to do is put in the reps. He is very accurate in his transcriptions.

I highly recommend donating to Mark's Patreon account to support his work. It's money well spent.
