• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Ear nose and throat physician to see is your Eustian (sp?) tubes are not functioning properly. This blockage can add to the tinnitus. Ear tubes can help drain.

Weed and Xanax can knock it back too.

I fear that if I lose my hearing all I will hear is the tinnitus.

Had Tinnitus for 7+ years - 24 / 7. Many factors play in to the severity. Stress is obviously the easy trigger.
For me my level of tiredness is a big factor. When I go to bed late and very tired it is at its worse.

I have to have some background noise to drown it out - Radio, TV - anything. I can sleep with Heavy Metal going, but the wife want silence.
Recently I found a series of Youtube " Black Screen " Sleep videos that really have helped. My wife has no problem with these running all night.

See your doctor or a specialist if you haven't already. There can be a lot of causes, and there are many treatments. Its hard to play in tune if you can't hear the notes though... so...:dude:

There are some triggers to avoid . Caffeine, MSG and products containing aspirin are my worst triggers. I know of no treatments that actually work. Limit your noise exposure as much as you can. Using a fan or a commercial white noise generator can be a big help with sleep.

Matt please be so kind and talk about the specific treatments. I was told there is no cure by my specialist, but plenty of snake oil.

I have struggled with tinnitus for over 30 years due to damaging my hearing with extremely loud amps back in the day (I am 60 years old now). I have the wonderful combination of hearing loss that can't be cured AND constant ringing in my ears. I have a tag line that I actually told the sound man before I gave up gigging "can you turn it up so I can't hear the ringing in my ears". Many visits to ENT docs and I have tried every "snake oil" treatment that I could find. I have found one product that while it hasn't cured my tinnitus I feel that it has helped tone it down. You can get it at any pharmacy or online. It is called Lipo-flavonoid and it is basically a B complex vitamin with some herbal extracts. It really does seem to help and I probably need the vitamins anyway. Message to the young guys......protect that hearing! Hope Lipo-flavonoids can help you get some relief. (I am not affiliated with the company that sells the product).

Not sure about the stress stuff though I have to say I am under considerable amounts right now and tinnitus is hitting me. I will say that sinus activity triggers it in me and neck muscles seem to trigger it as well.

There are a few free 'voodoo' things you can try on the web. I have tried some and had success as have others. I'm thinking about the finger popping on your head stuff here. It does not hurt to try.

I have suffered from tinnitus for decades, nothing you can do, everything you read on the web is snake oil
Having said that, some days are worse than others, not much rhyme or reason to it

I non-musician friend just bought blue tooth hearing aids (what?) that have a tinnitus reduction mode.
FYI- never tried it myself.

When mentioned, my ENT doc did not discount Lipo-flavonoid's affects. It has helped some people, but he stated it is not a cure. So I'm giving it a try.
