Well I had no plans to buy any more guitars for now but I got to talking to this fella Cliff up at Destroy All Guitars which is about 50 min from me and I looked at his site and saw these Whitfill teles (he had two). I can't remember where I saw one (maybe someone here can help) but it was either Greg Koch or Vince Gill. I swung by his house and picked this thing up and within 5 min i had given him a check. I've never played a vintage tele before and I've got a pretty nice fender custom shop journeyman in fiesta red-- but this thing-- man when you play it it SOUNDS like what I think I've always thought a tele should sound like. All three positions are incredible. This thing has vaulted itself up into top 3 of my favorite guitars. I keep going back and playing it. He's (Charles Whitfill) got some magic going on. I saw on his facebook that Joe Walsh, Warren Haynes, Vince Gill and Johnny Hiland are all using his guitars.... so that tells ya something-- (there's some great vids of Joe Walsh playing his guitar with Vince Gill in the background and Joe looks like he is a 10 year old kid. man I love that guy.
They are priced very reasonably. Bang for buck you can't beat this. Cheaper by about a G to a comparable aged fender custom shop-- and way better.
he is known for how light his guitars are and his secret special sauce pickups.
this one is 6lbs 9oz.... crazy. it resonates like crazy in your hands.
I would love to know how these compare with the Nachocasters.... I cannot tell ya'll how excited I am about this guitar.
