• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi All,

This is my first post!
Looking forward to hanging out here!

I was looking for some purchasing advice...

I am going to customise a Les Paul to make it a '50s style tone machine...

Waiting on some Monty's PAFS
Got some bareknuckles pots (which the article below says are similar to vintage taper).

Still deciding what material bridge and tailpiece to buy

I've read this article:

http://www.theguitarmagazine.com/features/vintage-les-paul-tone-guide/

And would like to find some vintage NOS Astron/Lafayette 0.022uF caps to see what they sound like.
I can't find any on eBay or Reverb.

Is there a shop or member who supplies these?

I bought some red Jupiter 'Astron' caps (0.02uF and 0.01uf) but I keep searching for real NOS caps..

Thanks!

I'm also toying with this quad-pot mod from Premier guitar.

But I keep coming back to wanting to make the LP a standard vintage set-up...

Thanks fo your help!!!

hit that link. Scroll down and watch the videos on tone controls, pots and caps.

then you can decide for yourself where you want to go.

Seriously....the videos are incredibly well done, the information is deep and presented in a Cause and effect manner that’s impossible to argue with.

Also worth a re-watch just for fun.
