Hey! I bought a pickup that seems to be a Gibson PAF vintage pickup. One of the coils (not ssure whats they are called) has been rewund and retaped the sides. It marks 8.3 K
My question here is: Is it original? How much would it cost?
I would appreciate your answers and awesome help :)

Sorry but I hate to tell you that is not a vintage P.A.F.. Not one part of that pickup is vintage from what I can tell from the photos.

Thanks for the reply!! How do you know that is not vintage? I would love to know the details and be more informed.
Is it gibson original but just a reissue maybe?

There are many details, but in this case, I only need one: the bobbins are NOT made of butyrate. Period. Case closed. NOT vintage.

Another tell: self-tapping screws. Those are currently used in several Seymour Duncan p'up models.

Those bobbins look like the ones used in Gibson p'ups, altough they can be purchased through several p'up parts vendors, both in the US and big-bulk asian part makers, which many US boutique p'up makers source their parts to begin with.

Another thing: the p'up's been tampered with by a non-professional, and originally had a cover. You didn't get it, isn't it?

Anyway, what makes you think the p'up's been rewound? The DC reading suggests 496R coils put on a '57 Classic/Burstbucker baseplate, showing intetion to deceive, if you ask me.

There are many posts and an article here at the forum that highlight the details that help authenticate. The decal alone tells the story here.

Oh, if a pickup so recent looks that aged (looks like it's been outside!) it's either been abused, or has been artificially aged--attempt to defraud.

Jon got that absolutely right. Not a single piece of this pickup is vintage. I hope you didn't pay PAF money for it.
