I kine'o want it.

I'd rip out the rat board and replace with hand wired skookum.

I love jr's.

Like I love women .

I just got one of the last of these that I could find. I love it so far. Would replacing the circuit board with separate components really improve the sound enough to make it worthwhile? I'm pretty happy with the sound as is. I've been wanting a Jr for a long time and I'm glad to finally have one.

I modded my Standard with SD humbuckers even though I liked the sound but I had bought the pickups before I bought the guitar. I liked the new humbuckers too.

I am not going to tinker anymore with guitars I am happy with.
I like the sound of my 2016 LP Jr. Yet I changed the tuners!
I guess we pickers are never happy. LOL!

I got one about a month ago. I agree - it sounds great right out of the box. But I still did a bunch of mods: Wolfetone Meaner 90 pickup, longer vintage style tailpiece studs, Mojoaxe compensated aluminum tailpiece, and yes, pulled out the circuitboard and replaced with CTS pots and a good PIO cap. Changing out the circuitboard won’t impact the tone much, as the stock pot values are good, but it allowed me to wire it up 50s wiring which DOES impact yours tone when dialing down the volume and tone controls. I love this guitar - I’ve been wanting a single pickup Junior for a long time as well, and glad I held out. The 2018 specs are everything I wanted but couldn’t get in previous years: big neck, “stepped” body, finish color. Killer guitar. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Dilver! -- It's very cool you scored some of Wolfe's P90s.

Me and him discussed a single coil wind on a landline telephone connection! :laugh2: Really. It was a long time ago........I still have the pickups in what used to be a Les Paul Deluxe.

We're friends to this day...... Fuckin' A Wolfe !

Hell yes. The Wolfetone Meaner 90 is a K I L L E R pickup in this guitar. I mean, if you’re just going to have one pickup, it better be good!

I can't quite recall the wind he did on those,I'm thinking it was a bit less resistance than the Meaner P90 for both of them. 8.7 bridge and 8.1 neck? Something like that.

They are both safe.

And I do love Juniors and women.

In fact I was involved in the porn industry for 20 years.

I've been in over 2,000 adult films.

But you would have never seen my face.

I was the "stunt dick".

Lol....better than being the fluffer! badda bing!

Gorgeous Junior....It makes me think twice about overpaying for a custom shop iteration, and I love my
Custom Shop R4 and R7 LPs.

Any guesses why so few people change out the Jr's in-line tuners for Grovers or Schallers?

I heard a funny interview with Leslie West. He said the LP Jr is a tree trunk with a microphone nailed to it.

I didn't know about the tree trunk/mic quotation from West! Nice.

You aren't serious are you?

Wow.

I meant to say that a tree trunk with a microphone in it “could describe” the single pickup Esquire too, not that they are clones of each other! But it is not crazy to compare a single p90 LP with an early Esquire with a hotter and darker Broadcaster bridge pickup! Dial that bridge P90 down to 6 or 7 and you get into some surprisingly bridge pickup Tele broadcaster/esquire territory by setting your amp right.

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago from Chicago Music Exchange. It really delivers on both what Gibson claims and what users say in reviews. I like the neck a lot. I can’t stand 60s slim tapper. I like the pickup, finish and the mostly vintage vibe. The weird logo means nothing to me. It says Gibson...so I’m ok. Im not sure why Gibson just does not make this model a staple in their lineup. It clearly sold well. People who own them like it. People who don’t own them bitch about the logo and price. Anyway, it’s a fantastic junior that delivers well on expectations. It’s built well and worth the price. It’s a keeper!

Absolutely worth the $1,200 I paid for it and no comparison to juniors from recent years... more like an Historic in terms of specs and feel. A couple of mods took it from great to amazing (Wolfetone Meaner, Mojoaxe, RS pots, PIO cap). But still great right out of the box. Everyone said wait till end of year and they’ll be blowing them out at a huge discount... I don’t think so and glad I jumped on it when I could.
