• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks Wilko and rockabilly, that gives me the rule of thumb for this one.
Won't be chasing the Century sound now:hmm

As a matter of interest rockabilly69 did its tone resemble an ES series Gibson at all?

My Century sounded very similar to my ES125 although a bit darker.

The one song that I know Campbell used a hollowbody (with Bigsby) on was "You got lucky" for that Bigsby-laced solo. Don't remember the model.

Speaking of my old Century (with nonoriginal black pickguard), here it is with my old ES125. I sold the Century, but kept the ES125 which is
my slide guitar of choice when I want the raunch!

A darker sound is not something I can live with in a guitar or amp......I like 'em crisp and racey.......
why on earth do I play LPs:lol

I just finished a resurrection of a '51 Fender Deluxe amp. MY '62 ES-125 with the single P-90, which can be a darker sounding guitar, works magic in that amp.
