Good day,
I'm a long time reader of this forum. I already learnt a lot from here.

Now I'm looking at a Gibson Les Paul junior. The serial would be from a 1963, but the placement of the bridge is more like a '62. The color is chery red, but looks quite dark in the pictures.
Anyone have an opinion on this one, is it real and could it be all original as the seller claims?

Not trying to stir things up,Just asking this.

Is it possible it could be an early 64?

Thanks for the pictures and info.

Well, serial number is close to some LP's from '63, but I think that I saw a SG jr with a lower serial. I know they are not 100% reliable.
So were there LP jr's in '64, or is this a lost decal they found in the closet?
If this is a '64, does the rest look original / legit? Any idea of value (in Europe)?

PS: I notice I have a whole different editor and forum on another laptop, or they just went back to the good old LPF :spabout

Serial number is from 1963.
If that logo is a decal, then the guitar might not really be an LP Jr. They silk screened those logos, as far as I can recall.

I found serials 124617 and a 135597 as a '63 Les Paul jr by a reputable dealer. I guess that might be right.
Maybe the pot closest to the jack was replaced, the solder looks less clean and a whole lot of solder. On the other hand, why use a '64 pot afterwards? Are the wires standard? They use a naked wire from the bridge to the pot, but then an isolated (yellow) one between the pots.I saw these yellow wires in other SG from that period.
Anyone can verify if the pickup looks right for a '63?

Values are 500K (x2) for these..

I have seen all sorts of randomness with the yellow insulating wire..it really is a crap shoot what you may see, but it's all factory work...

So far I read no real questions on the guitar itself, nor the P90, so I think that's OK for me.

Can anyone put an estimated value on it? I see them going for a little less than 4000$, or do they sell a lot less / more? I'm in Europe, so that is yet another price setting.
