• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Awesome! Congrats!!

After 3 month waiting i received mine today. I can compare "Amos" directly with two Historic Les Paul and a Les Paul Custom from 1981, some Gibson Explorer made of mahogany. All i can say is, if you can grap one, do it. My english is to bad for complicated sentence......so in short: i cant find a single flaw in craftmansship, the pickups are great, the guitar is ringing in a fat way like the best Les Pauls i have heard or played myself. Neck size is perfect, the frets are Jumbo size, very cool. I cant tell if the body has a veneer or not, but it looks great.

Im a Les Paul player and to me "Amos" feels so close to the best Les Paul I own (a Cloud9 from 2007), its fantastic.

I pre ordered one and waited. It is a great guitar for the price, $899.00! Although I am not a "V" player, I do love the guitar.

these guitars are great, but the neck is on the thin side. and the neck pickup is a little dark. I will try an alnico 5 magnet and a 1ma pot to brighten it up

:hmm, necksize is a matter of taste, but the "Amos" neck is in no way "thin" :hmm

Really? Mine must be around 0.8" at the nut. Certainly not 0.9"

mh, maybe its not THAT fat, but....... :hmm

BOTB "Facts of the ´burst" - like messurement: :)

1st fret: 0,86/21,8

11th fret: 0,94/23,9

and:

1st fret: 0,86/21,9

11th fret: 0,91/23,0

My 2016 R8 has a "Goldie" neck and nearly fits with the numbers in BOTB:

1st fret: 0,91/23,2

11th fret: 1,12/25,5

I've felt thicker necks, but I wouldn't call this "thin," personally. It's thicker than my other electrics. Feels really comfortable to me.

I have the custom shop SD Amos pups in mine, but I don't recall any mud from either of the stock pups. Both were quite articulate and clear sounding. I'd check the height and pole piece heights on your neck pup, if it seems muddy to you.

The difference that I found from the SDs was that the stock pups were a bit smeary, especially when pushed, and they lacked the harmonic content, overall punch, and the sustain that the SDs have. The stock pups are entirely useable, and not at all lackluster, but not even close to what SD came up with, imo.

the stock pickups are very good, but the neck was a little dark comparred to the bridge. at least for my tastes. An A5 magnet helped, as did removing the gold plating on the inside of the pickup cover (it adds capacitance)

the smeariness all but dissapeared with a long oriented throbak A5 magnet, which replaced the stock a2 magnet

I just picked up an Epiphone Amos that already had Dimarzio Amos pickups installed, a handmade nut, and a Faber bridge (came with original pickups, nut, and bridge). The guitar is incredible.

I do have an Epiphone 58 Korina V (laminate 5-piece body) which is a fine guitar as well but feels like a toy compared to the Amos.

Interestingly enough while they look roughly identical the Amos body is smaller both in length and wing width by about an inch. Oh, and my Amos is a solid two-piece body (yes I pulled the pickups and the control cavity to inspect).

I want to use my SKB flying v case but there is a lot of room for Amos to move around in as compared to the other V. I don't want to gig the actual Amos case. Does anyone know if there is a case that will fit the Amos better?

dimarzio Amos pickups???
My bad Seymour Duncan Amos pickups.

I just compared my Epi Amos with a Gibson Custom Shop 58 Korina Flying V. They have the same body, neck, and headstock shape. The orientation of the controls, pickguard, and neck body should joints be the same. I was surprised. Wow... no need to spend 10k... if I bought the Gibson CS I would still change the pickups out to what is in the Epi.

The Epi is way too orange-ish in comparison but I don't care. I bought the Epi to gig with and it is going to get beat up anyway. Its first show is next Friday. 30 ABBA songs ;-)

👆this is a tribute band ? ..pix needed 🤔 😉
Here are a few collages from the 2023 tour. I have played Fender guitars exclusively since 1983. 2024 will be the first year I will be playing Gibsons. I discovered the magic of Les Pauls and PAF pickups solely because I had to learn so much ABBA material. I love the fact that there is always something new to learn when it comes to music... even being an old geezer! *edit* I added a couple of photos from my buddy John C. Benson from the 2022 tour!

He is an amazing photographer, check him out.
