• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Got the rest of this binding and fretwork knocked out over Christmas break. Even got the guitar grainfilled, and finish sprayed. I’ll be doing one more coat tomorrow and will have additional pics...but it’s looking damn good so far. Even found some curl in that old mahogany....

I installed an original side pull vibrato, secured with the Mojoaxe Vibro Stop kit. This will be a player, so performance and stability is important to the owner. Some Historic rings from Gibson, a recreated pickguard, and some aged fasteners were also installed. This will do some sunbathing for a few weeks to start the aging process, and then I will install an ABR-1 and set this baby up.

Splendid restoration and paint job. The mahogany patch seam is barely visible. :dude:

Thanks! I’m quite pleased with how well that blended in. Once strings are on the guitar and the finish is aged a bit, it should blend in even more.

Looking great.

will tanning increase the risk of high lighting the patches?

All assembled and set up today. I’m pretty pleased so far, I imagine this is what it probably looked like hanging on the wall of a guitar shop in 1961.

Looks killer! I'm glad you changed those pickup ring screws to black...that was throwing me off :salude

Me too, I had some nickels so I aged them and tried them first, and then found the originals rolling around in the case. Back like it should be now.

Excellent work! That looks fantastic!!! :salude

Thanks man. Those pickups are something else too. Not only do they look fantastic, they sound absolutely amazing. They are a PAF set from Gil Yaron that I got from Pellman73. I’ll put up some clips of the owner playing it this week.
