• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I own a Gibson Country Gent from '87.
I think about to swap the Bigsby with a fixed tailpiece.
What will look great? If possible a Gibson model.

Have you thought about putting a Stop Tailpiece on? There are some very nice Trapeze types as well.

It may not be correct, but for a long distance like that I'd consider an Epi Frequensator tailpiece.
( isn't that how you spell it )

'87 Country Gent? You got my attention.
I loved everything about them except the Bigsby.

My suggestion is this gold Howard Roberts.

Tom this guitar looks never to have a stop tail , is this guitar a 50's custom order . Wow what a beautiful Les Paul !

That's 9-1868, a Burst I named Cooper.
It was originally [what we call] a 'Bigsby only' Burst. Never was drilled for stud anchors.

It had a similar German tailpiece for about 20 years when I got it.

I added the curved version because it sits over the screw holes from the Bigsby, "hiding" those wholes. :ganz

I always loved that guitar Tom. I haven't seen those pics before, made my day. I have a 99 R9 that reminded me of Cooper so I grabbed it. :teeth

Thank you Tom I really like the top some how the tail really puts the vibe on . The figure flows with the tail . There's really something about those old tops you just don't see in historic's or CC's!

I've been away for some time.
This looks the best so far. I like the Byrdland type some more.
Problem is the plate that screws into the side of the body.
That's too large. The Gent is thinner.
:hmm
