• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Which new pots most like a vintage centralab?

I would be remiss if I did not mention Marks Guitar Loft and the pre wired harness with CTS 500K Pots with Vintage Bumble Bee caps . This is an awesome harness which I have purchased 2 for a couple of my Les Pauls . These things make a world of difference for tone .

Well, I didn't get an email.. I was hoping to have had mine by now for a couple of shows I'm playing coming up Saturday. I ordered some long shaft and short shafts back in late March or early April.

Don, so sorry to have missed your email. It's been a little crazy the last few weeks. Your order didn't ship, yet, as the long shaft pots will arrive next Monday. I'll send you an email in a few minutes.

Re. the iPad - I don't know. It works great on my iPhone, but I don't have an iPad.

All pre-orders have been shipped! By now, the lady at the post office knows me by name. She's probably thinking "Not this guy again with his bag full of tiny packages.".

Let me know if there's further interest in the long shaft version of the VIPots, as the first small "test" batch is almost gone (probably 60 pcs left) and I'd have to order a significantly bigger batch next time. :hmm

Just installed in the Black Widow. Wraptail + WIZZ vintage wire Humbuckers + VIPots + Luxe Grey Ghosts. After I learn how to put the reins on this thang I'll let you know! The POTS are magical. Tone is actually more usable IMO and the volume is great. Clarity kicked up a couple of dozen notches. AND THE KNOBS FIT MUCH BETTER! I actually had to bend them out just a tad. Which is great! No more cracked knobs! Had one bad pot in 16 but I'm pretty sure it was my heavy handed soldering.

I just realized that I never followed up on my post from a page or two back.

So I got the VIPots wired up into a harness with some old Sprague Vitamin Q caps. I installed the harness along with a set of Wizz Gregbilly humbuckers into a great old mahogany/brazilian luthier build guitar.

Seriously impressed here. The pots feel like the old Centralabs & they react the same way throughout the sweep.

Definitely the closest thing that I have tried. I would certainly buy more.

A little rubbing on a belt sander and the VIPots even look like vintage kit...

My soldering skills stink but it works (Luxe Grey Ghosts)...

The original had waffle backs on it...

Replica long guard just like the original thanks to Dan at Mojoaxe! (though I still have not solved the screw hole)

Why do that?. The guy who sells those said the raised area of the back of the pots was made to facilitate soldering. Removing it just to look vintage just makes them harder to solder to.

You are incorrect. It makes them very easy to solder to. Why do you think Gibson did it back in the day?

I was referring back to post #95 where the guy from the company says that the logo on the back is functional, and makes it easier to solder to the back of the pots.
