• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Would you guys do this trade? Need help!!

I got a lead on a '75 Mocha Strat. It has tuners and pickguard changed

The bridge pickup is changed out, but he has the original and it's dated '74

The neck feels smaller than my baseball bat neck '79 Antigua, and the pickupssound a lot smoother than my '79.

I'm trying to do an even trade for my 2011 Fender LTD. Ed. 60th Annv. Tele I picked up at the pawnshop for $500. The value of this guitar in it's present condition is at least $1100. Here are the pics of the Tele and of the '75 Strat (owners pics)

Do I do it or not?

I would personally, even if it is CBS & Brown (its brown lets be honest) with non - original parts, but that's because I don't do Teles :hee
do you have another #1 Tele? how much does that CBS monster weigh? a friend of mine has a 1977 and it rivals a LPB3 in weight :laugh2: what style/how do you play?

I decided to go back and really give it another fair shot, and I did the trade.

I really listened to the guitar and really played the guitar this time. I listened to all the pickup settings, and the guitar really does sound good.

The neck is way smaller than my baseball bat neck '79 Antigua, and really felt good in my hands.

I also realized after having around my neck for a bit, that it's WAY lighter than my '79. It's gotta weigh just over 7 lbs. I didn't weigh it,but it feels about the same at my '08 Chambered LP Standard which is just over 7 lbs.

Every Mocha Fender I've played has been light and a great guitar. Esp. for a 70's Fender. Glad you did the trade. I would have said yes in a heartbeat.

I plan to change the pickguard to a Black 3-ply for sure. I'm still on the fence about changing out the vintage grovers that are on it.

I'm also going to reinstall the original bride pickup that was in the case. I think the guitar will look great with all 3 original pickups and the black pickguard. Here's some quick pics I took when I went to go pickup the guitar.

Nice score. I'm with ya on changing the pickguard and putting the other pickup back in.

I do like those big headstock Strats. My Strat is the typical, smaller headstock variety, but I do look every now and then for the other.

I love everything about that guitar! Can't wait to see it put right. The patina on the poly finished neck is great.

Thanks. I think it's going to be a killer player once it's set up right. I should look great with the bridge pickup and pickguard installed. Can't wait!
