• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Very nice looking guitar. Play the hell out of it!

What is a Robert Johnson Burst? I though he died 20 years before any burst was ever built.

Thanks Texas Blue I shall do indeed, the Robert Johnson burst I had read was owned by him once in the 'Beauty of the burst' - 9 0592 a 59 model

Cheers

Hi All

Thanks for the really nice comments and encouragement about my new and first ever Gibson Les Paul, I really appreciate it what a great forum this is and very friendly. I posted it on another forum and was told how weird it was with the transparent cavity cover :(

Anyway thanks again all, I am off to play it now :)

Cheers

The '08 Standard is a great instrument as far as I am concerned. The asymetrical neck is very comfortable, and I have no problem with the locking tuners, bridge & tailpiece, nor the chambered body and the neutrik jack socket and pcb. Of the four Les Pauls I own, it is my No. 1 gigging instrument:

Yes I know exactly what you mean the locking jack takes a bit to get used to. I can see a flaw in its idea that if I happened to trip or stand on the lead I think I would rather it pull out itself rather than take the strain and chance damaging the jack entirely if pulled hard enough. Luckily I only play in the home currently and mainly sitting down so the jack should not cause any problems :)

Hi All

Well one week on after buying my Les Paul I thought I would give a quick update.

What a fantastic guitar I am so pleased with it. I have carried out 3 tiny changes just for aesthetics really, I have replaced the 'standard' TRC with a blank Gibson one as I wasn't keen on the modern font writing I and also have changed the rear transparent cavity plate for a black genuine Gibson one and put an amber switch tip on it. The transparent rear cavity plate was just a little modern for my tastes :)

Anyway what a guitar definitely a keeper

Cheers :)

Thought I would add a group shot of my 2 Gibsons together, both are my pride and joy I don't ever intend to part with :)
