• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Yeah, that's it, not in anything like the condition of yours.
I'll take more photos soon. I'm currently painting the kids bedrooms.:##

Old Gibson amps can be real cool! They just need more care and knowledge than some other vintage brands to max out sometimes. Sometimes the input impedance isn’t letting the amp be all it can be but that’s an easy fix.
What I hate are the ones with parts on both sides of the board. Oh boy what a repair job.
But they have lots of great old character that you definitely don’t find in newer amps.

I have a Gibson inspired combo made for me back in 1993, its 30 Watts, with a quad of 6v6gt, and a preamp that
uses a 12ay7, two 5751 and an ecf82/6u8a. Does this preamp resemble a Gibson amp your familiar with??

It has TMB plus reverb and tremolo BTW.

So much knowledge on here I just had to ask..

Hey doesn’t ring a bell with me.
I’m of the understanding that 12AY7’s were used in early - mid 50s Gibson amps.
octal types pre and 12ax7’s after.
Still a quad of power tubes and the higher wattage doubles anything I own or really look at.
16 watts is usually max for what I buy.

the other pre amp tubes also are a little odd for a Gibson circuit of the 50s.
