• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

You can take the covers off and put some melted wax on the underside of them and put them back on. That will keep the pickups from squealing as most pickup squeals from humbuckings are from the air space between the top of the bobbin and the underside of the cover. Original covers were dead flat on the top and didn't usually have any air space that would cause a squeal. Personally. I would put a drop of Silicon on the top of the bobbins and then put the cover on. Easier to clean up if you want to remove the covers later on.

I have also heard of using double sided tape and then the drop of silicon on top of the double sided tape that adjoins to the underside of the cover
