    Great pix, Toad - thanks!!!

When you have the same guitar (or pedal, pickup, or amp) that your favorite player uses to play that music and make those sounds, you know that piece of equipment isn't part of the "problem", and you can either move on to blaming the next piece of gear or get down to playing and seeing if you can really do it.

Some people really dislike Macca, but I have to admit he's the guy I admire most on this planet.

Is it common to see "upside down" silk-screens on leftys? Also, notice the Dave Grohl model Rusty's playing. I've been seeing more pros recently playing this model.

That's a Trini Lopez. Dave Grohl's signature guitar was based on one.

Being that there are three leftys, I'd say it's not common.

    Damn, that's two eggs.

So, the 3 bursts are the only lefty models that have upside-down silk screening? No other models?

    Re: Paul McCartney's Touring '60

Nah, was just takin' the piss after the Trini Lopez thing. That's no big deal, more common is when someone hears a song covered and assumes it's the original version. The Dave Grohl is a "cover" of the Trini Lopez guitar!

There were three original lefty burts. IIRC, they have upside down screens (when played left hand). I'm sure there are more upside down leftys. All the leftys done with silkscreen--up until about 1973 when they switched to decals which could easily be flipped over for leftys.

Also inconsistent on leftys are the position markers on the binding. Some have both sides, some on the "bottom" side and some have both.

The 'righty' Epiphone Casino is a 62 he has had since his Beatle days.

Some of Rustys Gibson Vintage gear.

Brian Rays 57 not too shabby eh? I gotta run....

I thought that a "4th" lefty surfaced, no? IIRC the last year or three.

    Re: Paul McCartney's Touring '60

Yes sir he does..and here's the explanation, expressed through quantum mechanics, of why The Beatles chose Casinos over equally available Gibsons

This theory was deduced in 1973 through the little-known "Schroedinger's Casino" experiment.

    Dire Wolf..Thanks !
For you. Macca with his trusty Vintage (Gibson) Ukelele..
given to him by the late great George Harrison.

    SOUNDCHECK

back to the Burst in question
IIRC there is a 4th Flame top lefty..

    Great thread.

There are times when McCartney rambles on a bit too long and too often between songs but overall I admire the guy and especially what he's done for the world of music. Not directly because of him, but because of the Beatles I probably never would have become so interested in music. The voice isn't what it used to be but still better than most and the energy is still present; hope he keeps on for many years to come.

His Epiphone has always sounded great; great pic as well.

I'm sure after 50+ years Sir Paul has figured out how to keep his strap on his instrument LOL.

He is arguably the greatest pop artist the world has ever seen, not to mention a fine example of a good person, and is a living treasure IMO.

    Re: Paul McCartney's Touring '60

"Living Treasure"..you know it. It is a pleasure to post these pictures..

From my vantage point , The Hollywood Bowl March 31 2010

    Guitar Whiskey..
Gotta agree to disagree. It is rambling with a purpose.
Trust me. The voice is still the voice. Everyone here at LPF is pretty good with numbers IIRC.Follow me here..
Try not going hoarse after nearly 5 hours on stage, per show. 1-2 hours of sound check, an 18 song average. Then approximately 3 hours (a 38 song set list average) per show, per night. Singing 50+ songs a pop. Dunno about y'all, but my hat is "off" to the man, the myth, the living legend that is: "Sir" Paul MCartney. Think about it.. 68 years of age playing to packed arenas around the world in 2010 . All of us baby boomers looking for the fountain of youth . Id say it is firmly embedded "in" him. His musical spirit is contagious despite the Paul haters and his worst critics. At the end of the day, he makes many of us feel that we are all on that "long and winding road" together . Or as he and John Lennon put it so eloquently..."The love you take.. is equal to... the love you make.." nuff said.

The two Pauls^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^MACCA still makes everyone smile.

    ROCK ON!
