That looks like fun. Is that red Les Paul a routed (for full size humbuckers) 1973 Les Paul Deluxe?

Is that a recent photo? What's up with the shiny cover on the bridge pup of #1? And you can tell by the flame and the stoptail position that that is in fact #1.

    Oakland, CA.

That red LP has to be at least 1970.

FWIW what you have there is not the whole picture - His double neck was just to the right of the danelectro and black telecaster. Cool photo, thanks!

That's the pickup that replaced the broken white PAF, been there since June '72, actually May '72 to be really specific. It didn't come off again until around '87, it was certainly gone by the Atlantic 40th Anniversary in 1988.

It is chrome if I recall... the one that was on the T-top that replaced the PAF.

In another thread they have an interesting debate about that t-top I think in the tone zone . Apparently somebody heard from somebody who knows somebody and apparently jimmy page and his tech say that #1 has allways had PAF's and that the t-top may have been cover only . I don't know how true that is but it was an interesting debate.

Nice pic! Thanks Led Zep Fan! Great to see these altogether in a daylight shot. You can really see the chrome cover on the bridge pup of #1 as mentioned.

Yeah, the Danelectro hasn't had it's bridge changed to a Badasss yet, either.
Was that a late mod to the dano?

Dano was modded either for the Firm or Outrider. It had the new bridge at the Atlantic show.

That picture is cropped - the full image shows the doubleneck on a stand to the right. It from Oakland 1977.

Couldn't find a big scan, because I'm in a hurry, but here it is un-cropped:

    Cool pics. Thanks for posting.

I've got some Page gear photos that I've not seen posted here before. There's one of his Martin, doubleneck and red LP lying side by side on flight cases behind his backline, dated 2 April 1973. Also have a really great one of the Led Zeppelin II studio setup at Olympic, among others. If I get the chance I will make them digital and send them this way.

Is this the one where you can see #1 on a stool with a Marshall and a Vox in the studio? Been dying to see it.

    Yes. It's fairly awesome.

The other one is the same as the one posted above, only a little clearer.

'Fraid you'll have to wait though; probably until Thurs eve. The photos are sitting here in front of me, but I'm at my girlfriend's at the moment and don't have the means to put them in the computer. Sorry chaps. Sit tight.

I sold that '64 LPB Strat to Jimmy in late April 1975. He used it quite a bit immediately after, including on their "Presence" LP. I asked him a couple years ago if he still had it, and said it was one of his favourites.

He got the Brown B-Bender around that time as well, had the chance to talk to the guy that sold it to him. He was working at SRI studios at the time and Page wanted another Tele. They found the brown Tele in Southern California and had it sent to Gene Parsons for the B-Bender who also engraved Page's name on the neck plate.

    Page interview in 1998:

"I still have it, but it’s a tragic story. I went on tour with the ’59 Les Paul that I bought from Joe Walsh, and when I got back, a friend of mine had kindly painted over my paint job. He said, "I’ve got a present for you.” He thought he had done me a real favor. As you can guess, I wasn't real happy about that. His paint job totally screwed up the sound and the wiring, so only the neck pickup worked. I salvaged the neck and put it on my brown Tele string bender that I used in the Firm. As for the body… it will never be seen again! (laughs)"

It's a extremely nice '64 LPB Strat that came from Sam Ash on 48th St. Lenny the store manager called me up about it.
It was brought down to Electric Lady Studios during the time Robert and Jimmy were mixing vocals with Eddie Kramer on TSRTS.

JP plugged it into one of the studio's BF Fender Twins, and it
met is approval. One thing that always impressed me about that particular strat, aside from it being light and well balanced, was the pickups, even thru a TR, they had that sizzle.
