• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Quick question for you owners out there of these fine instruments. A friend of mine has one exactly like like 'Captaincanada's' and it has the same neck profile as my 2000 R9. Were they pretty common or could that be a one off?

It's a great playing guitar. I've tried to snagg it a few times but he's not parting with it.

Thanks!

Great looking guitars!! I seem to remember a handful of 356s that were green and had quilt tops (i think?). Do any of you guys own one of those???

My 336. Got a 330 also, in red

Some days, I have incredibly fat and stupid fingers. My other guitar is a 339, not a 330. I must have gotten some quizzical looks with that one. The 339 is red. I like the tonality difference between the 336 and the 339. The 336, since the back is solid, one-piece mahogany, has more of a bite and is closer to a Les Paul in sound. The 339, being a hollow body with laminate top and back and a center block, is quite close to the 335 - woody and open sounding. It doesn't have quite the volume of sound when played acoustically, but plugged in, it just rocks.

There was one of those green ones in an old ad for these guitars...

But I've never seen one of the green ones up close (would like to!!!). I know they also made at least one in blue...

I was taking a photo of a new-to-me-amp the other day and got photobombed by my 2003 CS-356 (a Music Machine limited run Stinger in Quilted Heritage Darkburst). Seemed like a good excuse to revive this ol' thread. :jim

Been listening to lot's of your tunes on Soundclick. That's some real nice playing & tones. Digging the 'Slow Blues' cuts in particular. ----> Nice :jim

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. After more than a decade this guitar still inspires me every time I pick it up: still beautiful, comfortable, versatile - perfect for me.

I don't do nearly as much home recording as I once did, but participation in the JamZone here completely revitalized my playing skills over many months and provided countless hours of challenge and support. It's amazing how far you can go with just five notes! :ha But thanks there too

Clayville my friend - your guitar, your playing, your tone are an inspiration to many of us. Keep Pickin' (as Les would sign his autographs) :)

Have a 97 ES 336. Accidentally cracked the pickguard where it screws into the body by the neck PU.. Anyone know if this is a standard 335 pickguard or does it have to be replaced with a special one and where I can get one? Thx!
