Re: How does a headstock repair affect price?

I paid $200 for a Les Paul Studio with a repaired headstock. I played it for over 5 years with no problems then sold it to a dealer for more than twice that. I'm sure he made a decent profit when he sold it.

It was a hard guitar to sell!

I wouldn't choose a guitar with a repaired headstock but I wouldn't say no if it was cheap enough.

With Epiphone ( ducks head, but listen for a moment.. ) it makes them next to free ... Which if you are looking for a player guitar can be a great thing.

"High end" Epiphones with cracked necks are almost a dime a dozen on ebay. I picked up this $900 custom still with store stickers on it for around $100 shipped, took about 3 days to repair it and I'll be damned if it isn't a really nice playing guitar.

Apologies for the Epiphone content, I know their resale values don't measure up to Gibson's in the first place. But some deals to be had if you can get past the headstock....

Now... make no mistake.. I couldn't sell this for $200 ... I know... I've tried...

If properly done, it increases the price.

meh its easy to do when the guitar isn't valuable :-) Not sure I'd be brave enough to do that on a more costly guitar.
