Changing code lock on Gibson case

Hi guys! I got a 2001 Standard from ebay with the brown case. It has a lock with 3 digits all on the "0" and a red plastic wire underneath them. How do i change the combination from"000" ? Is it ok to change it? Anybody had bad experience with it, something like not unlocking anymore?
