New Fender '62 Deluxe Amp

Just found out that Fender is coming out with a new reissue of their '62 Deluxe amp. No reverb, but what the hey, the vibrato (actually tremelo) is killer on the Brownface amps. Appears to be tube bias tremelo on these. Looks sweet, I gotta try one out and see how it sound. Seems like a amp what would go together well with a LP or 335

You won't be disappointed. These new Celestion speakers actually handle the overdrive tones much better than the original vintage speakers. They don't fall apart at higher volumes and they don't flub out.

Thanks for making this happen -- the brown Deluxe deserves a reissue. Hope you sell lots of them! Tempted to buy one so I can keep my original safe at home instead of taking to gigs!

Looks nice but personally I'd get the '65 with reverb for less money before I'd get this. And I like the '65 Princeton Reverb better than either Deluxe partly b/c my first Fender amp was a '64 Princeton Reverb bought new by my cousin and used by me in '79.

I've only heard a couple clips but from what little I can gather they seem to have a lot more gain on tap earlier on the dial than the vintage one I used to own. It got hairy but not on "3" before pushing any air.

Might have to actually get to a shop and see what it's really like.

That's because the '57 Tweed Deluxe reissue was hand wired and this '62 Deluxe is not, it's a printed circuit board. I'd pass and save up a little more $ for a decent hand wired replica. Fender sort of had to come out with this '62 Deluxe because of the success of the Suhr Hombre. Suhr stole their thunder, beating them to the punch of an affordable brown Deluxe copy that sounds good and has good build quality. This is pure reaction marketing by Fender. It's no coincidence this is $1699 and the Hombre is $1649.

That's the upshot of it isn't it.
Hombre is HW and has definitely got the market for sure, too bad that the amps aren't sold here in NZ.

The Hombre is PCB, not HW. But a good amp nonetheless. Here's a video from Lyle at Psionic detailing the construction and quality.

PCB's are not inherently bad- you just need large traces and higher temp laminates/prepreg.
Not the same as wire- particularly cloth wire...

I’ve been gassing the Hombre since hearing one. PCB board builds don’t put me off, but the board mounted valve sockets will.

I sold my original one because I couldn't sound good with it.
I was talking to a bandleader I worked with awhile ago who had some of the best ears I've ever encountered...uncanny, really, and he said, You have such great gear and really know how to sound great with it. The only time you didn't sound good was with that Brown Deluxe.
I was glad he noticed too, because I value his opinion.

I had what was supposedly a good one and had the same deal. I sounded bad thru it.
Got a Pro and with the 15 sounded fine/ adequate.
I find these two circuits very similar.
