Help with finding the source of the hum.

On my Les Paul that has Custombuckers, there was always a hint of hum, but it disappeared when I touched the strings/bridge/tailpiece.

Now it's humming very loudly, and when I touch the same parts, the hum is still there, but when I touch the plug housing of my guitar cable, the hum goes away.

Any idea what's going on?

have you tried new/another cable ? otherwise check whether the groundwire in the electronics cavity is still connected to the top of the volume pot

Sometimes the ground wire to the tailpiece has a poor connection.
Check it for continuity.
