Yeah.....at LONG last(a weeks wait)......9 3089 arrived today. I'll post pix tomorrow. I can only at first impression say FUCKIN' A!!!!!! I have the pix from the dealer but I'm gonna hold off on posting those so's you boys can see what she REALLY looks like. By this time tomorrow she will be equipped with a very special set of Timbuckers & will be minus any SHINY NICKLE!!!

This Guitar Kicks Ass!!! I can hear that she will need a little break in(I see where the others are getting the bright thang) I've never had a problem breaking a guitar in.......spin

I've got a gig to get to tonight...so's I gotta get goin'. So for now she's on the bench but rest assured my Brothers tomorrow you will have pix & a full report!!!

Tim -

Though we've never met, I was really bummed when you parted ways with Melissa. I'm ecstatic that you've aquired a substitute ("replacement" never crossed my mind). And what an appropriate name!

Congrats, and best wishes! Tom

I have not plugged this guitar into an amp yet.....but I was up until 5:30 this morning working on her. I got in from our show at about 2:30 & started in. I just finished. This guitar accoustically has a hollow woody sound that makes my erectal tissue fill with blood!!! With your head on the upper bout you can fuckin' hear the notes swirling around in the wood & cavaties.....just incredible!!!

As many have mentioned the fret work is just KILLER!!! I can hear a substantial difference with the Brazillian board......I don't know how to explain it other than the notes are very "musical" sounding(read: hollow & beautiful) mid way up the neck...it appears to projecting sound.

The Headstock on this guitar seems to be a little thicker than previous years& perhaps even other '03's but I don't give a shit when it sounds & plays like this. The neck is EXACTLY the same profile as the '98's substantial girth with the lack of "chunky" shoulders.

If the pick-ups do nothing other than broadcast the sound I'm hearing accoustically.......I'm in serious fuckin business. I'm quite sure they will take the guitar to even greater heights. After having talked with Tim He came up with a set of Pick-ups that would best suit what I'm playin' & what I'm lookin' for tonally. The neck is 8.15 & the bridge is 8.35............I'll post the results when I've actually plugged in at gig volumes.

This is a great guitar!!!! I'm very happy:dude

Now just bear with me Brothers the photo's will be posted in about an hour & a half.

Let me just preface by saying....to me when a guitar plays like this one does....I really don't care what it looks like. It just so happens this guitar looks good(to ME)...........

I'll be back......

Sounds like you may have found a keeper! That's great!

What kind of amp will you be playing through, now that the Komet is gone?

Ben Fargen is building me one of his Bordeaux's(Head....not Combo). A childhood friend builds his cabinets & turned me onto the amps. I was incredibly impressed. The amp should suit our music extremely well. I went the the 2xEL34 rout. He also makes the the amp in a 2x6L6 configuration. Again I spoke with Ben for quite some time & he.....like Tim had some ideas for something that would suit what we're doing as a band & what I'm lookin' for tonally. You can hear the amp at http://www.fargenamps.com/Sound%20Samples.htm It is the second column of soundfiles from the left.....Bordeaux EL34. I'll run that through my '68 B cab loaded with G12H30's..........

I had to sell a lot of gear to pay some bills & with a little help from my FRIENDS:dude & family......I've been able to put this little show together. I am always humbled by the kindness of strangers who opt to help out a beggar!!!

Rock & Fuckin' Roll!!!:dude

mofinco - I did the hardware. The pictures actually don't do it ANY justice. The top is subdued at some angles & IN YOUR FACE at others....That really isn't translating in these pics......but Like I said earlier......Looks are GRAVY!!!!

davebc - I only wrapped the Tailpiece(as far as set up goes). the set up was/is killer. I love these new frets!!! I still have not plugged it in....my gear is all out at our practice pad!!! I have NO amp at home(one of the things that was sold off........:eek I'll let you know when I plug it in how it sounds......I've already yanked the BB's.

I can't wait to plug it in to amp!!!!!:dude

Did you use the muriatic acid vapor method or the dip it in circuit board etchant method? It looks great!

I used PCB etchant from Radio shack. A little brillo action here & there....I then rinse & let it sit on a paper towel. As it dries.....rust forms on the areas where the metal has been laid bare.....this usually only happens with the screws. At least that's my desired effect..........

Glad you're diggin' it!!!

It plays like a MoFo!!!!

Robert - It's nice!!! & thanks for your kind words......you comin' down to Dallas???

I didn't even mind it with the stock BB's. Once the voodoos were in , it just went to another level. Opened up all the dynamics and the guitar just sings!!! I've said all along that these 03's are great feeling guitars with incredible frets, feel and playability.

Great photo's!!!!!!! Looks real nice. Can't wait to hear your tone report.

I am both psyched to hear that, and also knew it already. My '03 R7 has that hollow woody acoustic property. It slays me with the BBs. I've got one Voodoo on the way (thread by same name). I'm still trying to find the neck pup I want.

Hey Tim-I am really happy for you-it just about broke my heart, after reading all your posts, how you had to sell Melissa...I guess because I have had to sell guitars to "make the rent",I really empathized with what you were going through-enjoy it for a long, healthy, cathartic time...and....

Got yourself a keeper there Tim. She's gorgeous, and from what you say about the accoustic sound, it ain't all just looks. She's got just the right flame and color, perfection. I love a guitar that changes her looks as you walk around. Hope you can post some sound clips for us soon bro. Congrats! :dude :dude

Nice..................... I played ( auditioned ) her 5 sisters yesterday afternoon at L&M, from your pictures you got the best top. I also noticed that the headstocks were shaped differently then my '01. The '03 R9's were priced cheaper than the aged R6 I also played.
