When did Gibson start to weight relieve?

OK, I asked this in flame war weight relief thread, but it got ignored.

What year did Gibson start to use weight relief holes in production Les Pauls? What model(s) were affected and when?

I don't want to rehash the "tone" wars here, all I am looking for is solid facts.

Thanks!
