2004 R9 makeover

I'll pick it up later today. That's actually the 2nd makeover of my 2004 R9. It started its life as a very bright and clowny looking Cherry SB which I never liked. The first refinish turned out to be too orange and the aging was not good as well.

Finally I got what I wanted... can't wait to install the hardware

The package: refret with 6105s, recarve top (it was very flat before), refinish top with a light aging.

Will post before and after pics later.

Nice color, but that rosewood sure looks 'dry'.

Just brought it home... amazing. Hard to take good pics with my phone its too dark. The color varies viewing from different angles and the carving is so much better..

Re: 2004 R9 makeover

I don't know how the guitar looked before, but this is just awesome! Tasty top carve and a great faded finish, goes perfect with that kind of flame. Congrats!!

I never knew that it is possible to refinish a top without having to refinish the whole guitar! Thats what happened here, right?
Who did it? The workbench looks a bit too messy to be Florian's...

It was done in Germany - Mathias Schindehuette is the man
Yeah just a top refin. The back almost completely faded anyway. Let me see if I find some older pics...

Looks great Simon - wall to wall flamey goodness and the colour's good too. Hopefully you won't need a third makeover! PS The board looks much darker - anything done in that respect?

the board might have looked dry cause it was sanded. and the picture was taken right after refretting. This was the actual reason I did the whole ting... the neck was a bit twisted. Everything else was extra

I see what you mean about the first makeover. The arm wear is in a funny location for a start. It looks a hell of a lot better now.

Looks much better now. Are you using the same place or a different makeover place?

Thank goodness! The only thing worse than a dry fingerboard is a dry pussy.

Looks great!

I remember that 2004 color, and didn't like it then (or now).

Hey hey that's mine!

Great guitar man! So is it a real nitro finish now that checks naturally?

Very nice. I understand why you didn't like the aging of the first makeover...
