Dilemma--which Gibson to let go now that I bought an R8

Hey all,

I have the 'rich man's problem' of having recently bought a killer R8 and having to let go of either an excellent condition 2010 Studio (rosewood FB, great inlays) or a loved but beat '97 SG Standard.

I figure I could get OK money for the Standard, maybe $500(?) and maybe better for the great Studio, but I am torn between which one to keep. The SG is a USA Gibson with inlaid logo, bound nec, nice tone, etc., but the Studio is also very cool despite being bare-bones. Any thoughts?

And, no, I really can't keep all three.

Frankly I'd keep the SG as the back up. It's a USA guitar and something different but cool... Studio's are cool too, but I'd want to hot rod it with different pup's or something to differentiate it little more from the R8

For what it is worth,I had a similar delema. I sold the LP and kept the Sg.
I still feel good about the choice as the R9 is in it's own league and the SG ads a bit of tonal variety.

Unfortunately these days, the choice is probably whichever one will sell...

Keep the guitar you played most before you bought the R8

The SG without a doubt.

In the big scheme of things $500 buck's is just a handful of paper (if that's all you're expecting to get for it) and you might find after the honeymoon period's over with the R8 that you miss that guitar?

Keep the SG. Gives you a lighter option and great scale reach!

SG as well. I have a 1998 in mint shape and it's great. Love these older ones that still had the ABR-1.

The Studio is, well, a Studio.

I too would keep the SG. I doubt you'd play the others anyway.

Congrats on the R8!
