OK, crappy pictures off my BB:

[I'll need to get back home to get better pictures (in Europe now).]

On a moving train hence camera shake:

Used flash but then the colour is a bit off (but you get the idea):

I didn't look and I don't care.

It's an awesome guitar and I would hate to shatter anyone's fixed preconceptions if it really had a 2 piece board. ;-)

Understood. Just wondering if the 2012 models had the same specs as the other RX's for this year. I know 2011 were 1-piece boards and would assume the same for this run but I have no idea nor should it drive anyone's decision if they so desire to have one... beautiful guitars either way.

Uli, to my knowledge, Gibson advertised 250 aged Goldies.

It's all relative. Typical weight of Goldie is 3.8 kg.

US $9,995 for a Goldie. Seems to me a bit overpriced. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-Colle...item2a20c8dd21

I think that the prizes for these goldie guitars will climbing , after the whole serie is sold out...
I had a lot of Historic Les Pauls in my hands, but the goldie guitars, are the first , which came the dream of a original burst next...or what do you think ?
Look, feel, tonewise...I played the babe, but she didn´t make it for me...perhaps Sandy is the next big thing

Fully agreed. Why do Collector's Choice #2 Goldies sound so incredibly outstanding? Is there a special construction, wood, glue, etc.? Up to now, nobody seems to have insider knowledge.

The only thing I know, is that she is very near, to my imagination how should a real 59 burst, sound, feel and looks like.
This was also my idea, when I goes for Pearly, but my Pearly didn´t make it for me. So I sold Pearly and wanted to buy a Dave Johnson makeover, cause the dealer of these Area 59 guitars is living 5 min away from me...and I´ve checked some of these really great guitars.
But the I met Goldie, and I was very excited about her, tone, feel and look wise. So I decided to go for goldie , cause if you ring one E chord acousticly it sound so rich and beautiful, I´ve never ever made this experience with another guitar...

Re: No more "Goldies" out there?

I gotta be honest. I own one of these guitars myself and I don't see the hype and the specs are pretty much the same as any historic except for slightly different neck shape. It's just another historic. I bought mine because it looks cool but my favorite historic is still my Rossington.

Can anyone confirm that the 2012's have a 1-piece fingerboard out of curiosity?

I'm not quite sure, but they advertized Sandy with "no less than 50, no more than 300 made, depending on the available ressources...", what,to me, means "if we run out of matching maple at 259 units, well, shit happens..."

Will do, for sure. Right now she is in the caring hands of FedEx somewhere between Grove City, Ohio, and Phoenix, Arizona. I should have it in my hands by mid-week.

Goldie in Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MINT-CON...item1c2a464ca9

It is claimed 'THIS IS THE LAST COLLECTORS CHOICE #2 MADE FOR NORTH AMERICA". Unfortunately, nor serial number has been mentioned.
