Gibson ES 330L Custom Shop

Had a Gibson custom shop ES 330 l about a year ago and sold it .

So I have been thinking of getting another and really don't want a vintage example just as soon get a recent one .

Anyone have one for sale used please let me know or I may just buy a new one .

Re: Gibson ES 330L Custom Shop

Im always changing my mind .....

After thinking of getting another ES 330l and having two and returning both because of tuning issues and thought I would give it one more shot Ive decided not to do so ....

Went ahead and bought a Epiphone Casino and you know I had one before I decided to get a Gibson ES 330l and it was a great sounding guitar but thats how it goes . The ES sounded fine but both after a tune up by two techs they both had tuning issues .

Have two other Gibson nos 60 Les Paul and 50th Anniversary 335 both are perfect but the two 330l guitars just did not make it with me .

Ive yet to play a Casino that did not play and sound great and the only issue with them is the bridge rattle but that how the bridges seem to be .

I may get a Bigsby at some point or another and so Ive gone around the block a couple of times but Im back to where I was .

Well congrats on the Casino!

Is the ES330L tuning issue common?
Don't think when a bunch of people were posting abut them when they first came out that I recall that being mentioned.

You know I'm not certain but the two I had were problematic and just would not want to stay in tune .

Had two different techs with the same results and thought maybe I would give it another attempt and almost did but decided the Casino would suit my needs .

Somehow it just doesn't make sense that one specific model should suffer from tuning instability. The tuners/nut/bridge are the same on the ES-330L as on many other Gibson's, some graphite in the nut slots solves pretty much every tuning problem.

Oh yes graphite on the nut and the bridge did not address the issue of the tuning problem .

Believe me I wanted to keep the ES 330 ....

Just curious ... what string gauge were you using?

Re: Gibson ES 330L Custom Shop

My first (time-sensitive contribution), hopefully within the rules and guidelines (please let me know if not), nonetheless offered in the right spirit I promise: Guitar Center is offering a 15% discount on the ES- CS- 330L through today, as part of their Labor Day sale. Those are some significant dollars off. You still pay tax, but no shipping. I took advantage of it (vintage sunburst), and thought someone else might want a heads up. No, I've no association with GC and seldom go there. But they do give you 30 days return privileges--many places have gone to 14 days.

This forum's threads and discussions led me down the aisle, so to speak. Many thanks, friends.

Well that's 5 years and I've slowed down the last two.
I wish it got me Gibson Points for a discount.

Hey, you've got twice as many posts as the last time I read one of yours too, see their adding up already.
