70's Gibsons. Show off your Norlins.

70's Les paul's have often been maligned ,just like 70's Fenders. The reason for this was because they were speced differently to their 50's ancestors.Big headstocks with 14 degree head angles, pancake bodies and the neck volute were the big sins.Yet they are still fantastic instruments.A lot of the music recorded in the 70's was made with these guitars. I have a 71 and love it.Forty years of wear may have done wonders for it,its neck is so comfortable and the tone is glorious. So lets celebrate the Norlins and show off our guitars.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's an L5-S (?) Cool, but you don't see many in circulation.

That's the guitar of my dreams. I just love the little point at the bottom of the 5-piece neck. Couldn't find one without the low impedance pickups, so I bought a Custom in '75 (3-piece maple neck).

She's a real beauty, Humbuck!

The goof hiders are original to the guitar, so I wouldn't know where to get another set aside from a vintage dealer, or fabricating them yourself.

I've never seen P90s used with goof-hiders before. That's not half bad. I suppose the close plastic color makes it work.

Hey John (originally from Liverpool), your 'wrong sided' 1976 DeLuxe looks to be in amazing condition. Is it more or less in original trim? It looks to be, although I can't make out "DeLuxe" on the truss rod cover.

I am patiently waiting to drive out to the West coast (British Columbia) next month, where I have a 'totally original' tobacco burst 'right sided' 1976 DeLuxe awaiting pick-up. Very excited I can tell you! I just hope it is nearly as good looking as yours appears to be.

Thanks for sharing ......

Top side of the body is a bit beat, but otherwise the body is in good shape. On cleans, this '76 Deluxe just blows away my '91 LP Custom. I was told by one of the most knowledgeable members on here that lefty Deluxes usually did not have 'Deluxe' on the truss rod cover, because the only ones made were 'righty' and at the time Gibson were averse to putting upside down things on their guitars.

Rory Storm is a very well known name on the Merseyside music scene, as you can imagine.

Hope your Deluxe turns out to be just fine.
