"Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
![]() I'm so excited I'm about to BURST!! This is my first new "REAL" Les Paul I've ever purchased!! ...The only bummer is that it was purchased online, so I couldn't try it myself before buying it, which is normally a rule-of-thumb for me. I was not able to find one locally to try out that hadn't been thoroughly goobed up and gunked up by millions of little kiddies at Guitar Satan ...er, I mean "Guitar Center." Anyways, I just had to post this here before I spring a leak or something. -mr moon |

Congrats! Make sure you post some good pics and a tone report once you receive it. I played a Traditional a few weeks ago and was quite impressed with it. The anticipation must be killing you!

Me neither! ...luckily enough (or not), I have a bunch of gear to unload over the next week to both pay for and make way for the new arrival. This task should provide me with enough frustration and anguish to make the wait bearable, at least I'm expecting that it will.

Actually, it was much better looking in person than any of the pics I have seen. I would be happy with the one I saw in the store, and will probably own it if the one arriving from MF is *not* worthy. Seeing it protected in the locked glass case, which my local Guitar Satan does not have (except for their "vintage" guitars) made me feel better. I've been able to get rid of some of my old stuff already on CL, which is making the wife much more enthused about the whole deal. I learned long ago that I don't wanna p1ss the wifey off with music stuff... -mr moon |

For the first time ever, today *is* tomorrow!!! ...at least in UPS shipping time! The "item" is in the metro area and "on time" for delivery, which is usually around 3PM central time, as we have quite a bit of stuff that gets shipped to us and that's their regular time. YES!!! In other news: Looks like I have made more money on my old gear than I expected (thanks Craigslist!!). I'm only 10 bucks short of paying for the Lester lock stock and barrel, and I still have a few hundred bucks worth of stuff I'm planning to sell!! Actually, it's kind of nice to clear out some of the old crap, ...er, I mean "awesome gear," that hasn't gotten much use lately. Maybe this whole thing was meant to be?? -mr moon |

You're gonna love it!
Here's my '08 Heritage Cherry ![]() Either Gibson stopped using the flesh toned plastics or that picture of yours has different lighting? Great guitar! Love mine & may have to sell one of my recent purchases but I would sell my R8 before the Traditional. Just something about that guitar & how it's made. You'll feel it the instant you pick her up. Congrats! ![]() |

The picture I used came from the MF site, and it looks lke the lighting is bright. They have a more sideways vantage point shot, and they looks flesh tone rather than white. When I went to the local Guitar Satan to look one over, they had a new Iced Tea Traditional in a glass case that also had the flesh toned plastics. I'm pretty stoked at this point. Time's moving pretty slow right now! -mr moon |

Re: "Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
It....
Has....... ARRIVED!!!!! I left work early and have the Marshall warming up as I write this. The guitar is very very nice ....now that I looked it over in real light. I learned a very important lesson today: never ever look over a new 2 grand-plus guitar for the first time under fluorescent lighting (at work). The flame appeared almost non-existent in my office which is lit by about 5 billion fluorescent bulbs. But now that I have it home and have looked it over under sunlight, I can see much more of the woodgrain and flame, thankfully!! OK. I gotta go jam for a while now. I will try to post pictures ASAP, but I cannot say when that will be... -mr moon |

Re: "Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
Thanks!
...And I promise I will post some pix once I get a chance. I have weekend guests, so I probably won't have a chance to until tomorrow sometime. I'm amazed that this thing is actually *heavier* than my '92 studio; the neck is pretty much the same, but nicer on the new Traditional. Sound is huger on the new Trad too. Mojo factor is huge on the new Trad as well, hard to explain, but it just feels more solid and sounds more solid. I always thought my studio was awesome sounding, but this Trad actually takes it to a totally different level! I think she's a keeper.... -mr moon |

PHOTOS: "Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
OK, my houseguests have left and I was able to put down the new Trad long enough to take a few shots. I would like to point out that I am *not* a photographer by any means whatsoever. I set the camera to auto, point, and click the button. The camera decides what to do with the flash and everything else.
The shots are fairly close to what the real deal looks like, but maybe a bit brighter due to the flash. Anyways, here they are (click pics below for larger image): ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoy!! -mr moon |

Re: "Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
Manolian: Thanks!
Mikev: Thanks, and the binding around the entire body is all the same, I think anyways. My photography skillz, or lack thereof, probably made the binding look weird or something. I can check it out later for you. The thing I'm really beginning to like about the Trad is that the flaming is subtle enough that it doesn't draw focus away from the rest of the guitar's look. I mean, I really dig flaming, but sometimes there's too much of it and it draws away from the overall look of a guitar, IMHO anyways. I have to tell you that my experience with this guitar, even purchasing it sight unseen from Musician's Fiend (sic) has been outstanding!! My guitar looks much better than the one locally that I found at Guitar Satan, wheeeew!!! -mr moon |

Re: "Iced Tea" Traditional Plus on the way!!!!!
Thanks!
However, I do have a few questions regarding a couple of very minor blemishes that I want to ask about because I've never ordered a $2300.00 guitar before, and I'm just wondering what is considered a "blemish" (thus rendering the guitar to a B-stock rating) and what is considered a "character mark." There are three possible blemishes on the guitar I have questions about: 1. Looks like the finish was rubbed off a bit around the backside of the "horn" of the body. Tiny mark, maybe 1/4" long right on the edge, not through the finish to the wood, I think, 2. There's a place in the creme binding where the brown guitar top wood shows through, maybe 1/4" long on the main body of the guitar, 3. Looks like there's some scratching up by the truss rod cover right next to the nut. I don't know if this is residual polish/wax from the factory yet, but I'll look at it more closely later today to figure this out. To my ears and to my hands (been playing 25+ years), this thing seems awesome, but I just don't know what constitutes a "blemish" on a new Les Paul. Should it arrive in 100% perfect condition? Or are there "supposed" to be little flaws that distinguish one guitar from another. I don't mind little flaws on a guitar if it costs me like 500 bucks and/or I purchase it used, but is this acceptable/standard for a "new" LP? And yes, I am a bit anal-retentive about the little details like this when it's a new guitar and I have only a certain number of days to be able to report it and possibly return it. I don't know that I would be willing to return it however, as it plays sooooo nicely. Anywho, I'm going to check out all those issues again when I get home from work and get a chance to crank up the old DSL100 for a while! -mr moon |

I wouldn't bother. Imagine if you return what you have described as a really great playing and sounding guitar. Only to get a dud. As for the binding, do you mean that you can see the maple in the cutaway? That's supposed to be there. ![]() |

Yeah, due to the exact issues you brought up, I doubt that I will return it regardless, ...maybe I'll just try to get $1500 bucks taken off the price or something!! I also have a couple of questions about the COA (Certificate of Authenticity); what size is it and should it have been included with the guitar when it shipped? I will have to try to find it, as the only documentation that came with it was crammed into the storage area in the case, so it may be hanging out there. -mr moon |

It can be tough deciding on a keeper but if you got one that you feel sounds great...think hard about sending it back for something with better grain, etc. They don't all sound the same.
YMMV.
