How I spent the last two hours.....

I was using these......

Something old, something new...........

I am constantly amazed at how good a beat to shit 59 TV can be.

This ain't no Murphy. And I will be buried with it.

Re: How I spent the last two hours.....

Two hours is about 1 3/4 hours more than I usually spend playing at the shop after work. I 've had the guitar or years, so I guess I LOVE the Vintage Modern 50.

They are a great amp Greg - got one and won't be parting with it.
BTW do you recollect your settings - just noticing that you didn't have it on max overdrive where it goes to 11.............
How loud did you have it on the clean channel?

All the way. Master dimed, preamps up 90%. That slab of mahogany just TWISTS in your hands when you do that.

Nice to hear someone praise the old and new in the same breath. Usually, its one or the other. That guitar is fantastic.

Very nice & thanks for sharing! That TV Model looks like it might have a black pickguard. Or is it just the angle of the photo?

They are amazing amps. I got the 100w - If I dimed that I'd probably blow my own head off then my house would fall down on top of me! Seriously considering the 50w

As to wattage, I prefer 50 watters because they sound richer to me when wrung out. You have to REALLY hit a 100 watt head to get that, and then you might as well give up on the P.A.

Great pics, and thank you! I've always been a 50 Watt 1/2 stack man myself, and have been wondering powerfully about those Vintage Modern models (some even in Purple, too!)...

Guess I'll have to have a good listen!

Gotta love the purple Greg - doesn't show up in every light but when it does people notice it and then the oohs and aahs start.........
Did a recent show where the road crew setup a white light on the floor for solos and boy could you see the purple.
Very groovy

Re: How I spent the last two hours.....

Ayup.

This may surprise or even offend some.... If I could only have one guitar for the rest of my life, I'd grab this before the Burst.

Really. It's that good, and the tones from one vol and one tone knob are incredibly varied.

But don't buy any, just tell ME where they are!

Re: How I spent the last two hours.....

Great pics Greg...

For myself and my newly acquired Jr. (#925096) I was very apprehensive because I did not know if I was a "wrap tail" kind of player. After a while on a great Jr. I just forgot there was no ABR-1. These are really outstanding guitars. My friends Electric Lloyd and Lefty Elmo are big on them and they kept telling me how good they are. I had no idea...but I do now.

Thanks guys!!!

Re: How I spent the last two hours.....

That guitar has always, and continues to, absolutely slay me. I love the simplicity and design of the double cut Juniors. Awesome guitar.

I had the 100W VM and ended up returning it. Perhaps I need to give the 50 watter a try....

Re: How I spent the last two hours.....

Juniors rule.

I had a near perfect 1960 Burst with a little birdseye on it(no, I do not remember the serial number and I don't have any pics, sadly) that was impossibly clean. It was perfect because it was a DOG. Heavy, skrawny neck, no resonance at all. Whoever has it now probably just stares at it and brags about it, but I doubt that they PLAY it. I look at this buggered up TV and think of that incredibly valuable Burst and think "Man, I'd trade that Burst for this guitar any day".

Gimme a beat up guitar that EARNED the wear and I am happy.

What I find amazing is that the pickguard's in one piece whereas the one from my '97 LP Jr TVDC disintegrated amidst a cloud of noxious fumes after about 5 years.

YES,
Man I agree with you 1000%.
I still want to get one of these double cutays.
Would prefer a TV finish but cherry will do the job.
I know it's not for sale Greg but how much you think one like your's is worth ???

Good for you Greg, yes the secret to guitar nirvana is a Les Paul Junior and they are/were so affordable!
The combination of a beefy neck and that magic resonance of the plank of mahogany, allied with a killer P-90 and the voodoo that is a wraptail bridge, equals BIG TONE.
Nice TV there, see life is really simple, isn't it?

Yeah, they pretty much top the heap for me.

The first one that I ever played, took me 20+ years to eventually get it....

My favorite look on these is the rounder edges like your TV has. Wish Gibson would do that. It would cost them $12.00 for a different bit. Ugh.
