• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks timmy that's a good lot of pics:2cool

The '54-56 appears to be the more green/gold of the two(if in fact you could say that at all)........the '68 a copper gold.
Liked the substantial leather?? strap and booklets with the '68.
I bought my first Gibson in 1970 an SG Special(with a neck like a baseball bat unfortunately) and it had the same Gibson warranty booklet.........still got it somewhere........but not the SG.

Thanks for this thread! Awesome case candy!

Yes, the top colors of Goldtops varied considerably over time, and their exposure to light, smoky rooms, etc. also affects the color. Here is the vintage line-up -- '52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, and 58.

Great pic thanks Mike:2cool
I see that the pedominance of them are the darker gold colour.........and I'm picking rightly or wrongly that the colour varied from day to day run to run according to the mix done at any particular time with a batch of paint.
