• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Any idea what this Les Paul is? See pics...

Ran across this CS model - from the CS logo, it appears to be either a 2001 or 1991. Does anyone have an idea on the year? It looks like a R56 with the P90s. I know it's not a Historic reissue and that's not the point....just wanted to know if anyone remembers when Gibson did these. It looks a bit like the stingers made for Dave Carpenter later in 2003 but it's too early from the serial # and has no stinger. Any ideas on value?
Appreciate any insight....Thanks..

Its starting to look like a 2001 then. Seems to me that I saw that Custom Shop logo on a guitar back in 1991 on a special one off (not Historic) guitar.

Anyone can verify if a version of the Custom shop was around in 1991?

That logo wasn't used until mid 1993 when the official Custom Shop was launched. An early 2000-era guitar.

There were several runs of quilt top LPs ordered back in the day. I remember that Wildwood ordered tons of them.

Makes sense now that is a 2001...I remember seeing some of those '56 Quilts on the Wildwood site over the years. The seller is talking 2700 for this one...some back rash but overall not bad.
Thinking of taking the plunge as I don't see these too often. Was looking to get a 56 Historic goldtop anyway when I saw this one. Think tha'ts too much to pay?

A USA Quilt Top Standard today MAPs for over 4k. That guitar today would be 6 to 8k.

$2500 to $2700 is a very good price IMHO. If it floats your boat, not much at risk if you have ever sell it off.

I have a 1991 Les Paul Custom /400 with a Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock. It was made in November 1991, I bought it NOS in early 1993.

It was supposedly made to 1957 specs, two pickups, mahogany top, and Super 400 inlays. It's a tone monster!
