Re: 70's Les Paul Tribute
I saw one at GC this past weekend. It looked ok-just like a 50s or 60s tribute, but I'm a lefty so I couldn't really play it.
A righty player was just putting it back up on the wall and I asked him how he liked the mini-humbuckers. He stated that he liked P90s or Humbuckers better. |

Re: 70's Les Paul Tribute
Checked out a darburst LP 70's the other day.
Really cool. Felt and played good. Sounded good too. A bit on the heavy side so, it fits with the Norlins.

Yes, even with the weight relief, it still weighed a lot more than some other recent faded LPs. Not a bad thing at all though-I don't care for light LPs.

Re: 70's Les Paul Tribute
Played and bought one at GC today..Heavier then the other studio tributes namely the 60s ,with P90s which i also bought today..not as heavy as my 91 custom a real boat anchor but a real beauty non the less... I really liked both the 60s and 70s , The 60s was lightest les paul i ever laid hands on ..the 70s is a gold top with mini H B blades.....and for less then the price of a standard..I got 2 great and different sounding gibson les pauls..may not have all the bling....but sure got all the sting !!!!

Re: 70's Les Paul Tribute
The pick ups in the 70s tribute ,I wouldnt say very hot,but hot enuff..With a great balance went from clean to scream nicely..Played thru a tweed fender blues jr in the isolation room for alil bit i Had the volume up too..The P 90s in the 60s tribute studio, to me are hotter..dont have a meter to measure exactly..really digging the 60s tribute with P 90s and the much lighter weight, Its E Z on this ole body..P90s in this guitar are doin it all
...One thing about the 70s tribute..the floor model was pretty good but I asked if they had another one to compare ,a quick look in the computer and a trip down stairs and fresh out of the box, Virgin ...un wrapped it..tuned it up and the sumana bitch stayed in tune too!!! A gold top was on my bucket list of guitars so, And to get the mini HB as well for that price. SO for less then 1700 .I added 2 very nice Tonal additions to my Les Paul stall. And sorry it took so long to answer ya question
