• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

for newbies only (under 200 posts) what model LP and amp do you play the most and why

i'll go first.

i like my 01 std+ with antiquities most of all. i play it into either a silverface champ or silverface bassman into a 2x12. nothing added other than a distortion or boost pedal. i gotta go with the champ with the pharoah class-a-boost in front as my favorite setup. it gets that nice tubey breakup sound. on a rare occasion i'll use a digitech all in one pedal on a filthy setting to exorcise my metal demons. and i gotta confess that i still really dig abusing the '79 "the paul" on occasion also.

i hope the wise old sages of the LPF are not offended by this thread. i apologize for excluding them but i really am interested in hearing from some of the 4000+ members who, like myself, spend the great majority of their time here reading.

to those wise old sages, i enjoy the great majority of the info and a lot of the humor you all share here. many thanks.

2001 Les Paul Standard Plus (dessert burst) throught a Boss GT-5 multiefx, Peavey 5150 Head and ENGL 4x12 cab with Celestion V30. Using the 4 cables method to be able to use the Peavey preamp gain into the GT-5 loop. I use that amp dist for the heavy stuff. For overdrives/cleans/efx, the signal go throught the GT-5 directly to the power amp section using preamp modelers.

'95 Classic or '97 TV Jr double cut into either a Laney VC30 112 or a Fender Pro Jr, depending upon how tiny the gig is. For pedals I'll either use a Marshall Bluesbreaker Mk I or a Fulltone Fulldrive II flat mids.

I use a 1958 Goldtop and a VHT Pittbull through 2 Marshall Basketweave cabs with pre Rola G12H's with 014 cones (bass). I use this set up the most for it's crushing tones at low and high volume. :dude Most of the time it's in my living room on stand-by.:wow

'92 Classic Plus (avatar) with '59 double white PAF's, through all kinds of tweed and blackface Fender amps. I have a '68 Gold Top at Lay's Guitar Shop being converted to a Burst. I should see that guitar in a couple of months.

Gary Moore Signature into a DSL100 w/1960A 4x12. The Gary Moore just has a vibe and playability I really like and the DSL has tons of tone. I still haven't played an 800 that compares.
